The Bellevue Thunderbird Umpire Program

Bellevue Thunderbird Little League supports a robust umpire program that includes a Junior umpire program, plus a corps of adult umpires and umpire consultants. We provide extensive training, close supervision, and a supportive environment that puts the emphasis on teaching and learning.

The Junior Umpire Program

Boys and girls aged 13 to 17 who have experience playing baseball or umpiring, and who have a lot of self-confidence and enjoy baseball from the ground up are invited to participate in our Junior Umpire program. Our junior umpires start off working games at the AA level (9 and 10), and as you develop your skill and experience move to higher levels.

Adult Umpires and Consultants

To support our Junior Umpire program, we invite League parents to participate in the program in a number of ways. In addition to umpiring Little League games, we ask our parents to help as umpire consultants. The consultants help with scheduling and coordinating the Junior Umpire program.

Required Forms for Umpires

The following forms are required of all umpires in the BTLL Umpire Program. Please download and print out these forms. Then fill them out and bring them to the training session on March 8th.

Contact Info

If interested in participating in the Junior Umpire program or as a supporting adult, please contact the BTLL Umpire in Chief, Nick Gattuccio, at NickG@live.com.

Umpire Training

District 9 and the Bellevue Thunderbird league offer four courses of umpire training (each course is separated by color). Taken together, these courses offer the best training available to Little League umpires this side of the Western Region Umpire School in San Bernardino, California. This training series is a great opportunity for self-development as an umpire, and all of it is completely free!

All of the training is optional, except for the BTLL Basic Training course on March 8th. Look below for directions to the course locations.
